Soap News: Is Sami Brady a Granny? Y&R’s Brad heads to B&B, Emmy Pre-Noms and Cady McClain returns to As The World Turns

— Online buzz has Days of our Lives fans worried that Sami (Alison Sweeney) and Lucas’ (Bryan Dattilo) newly returned son Will is Mia’s (Taylor Spreitler) baby daddy…which means that because of Nicole’s baby switch, Sami could be raising her own grandchild? Will, born on-screen in 1995 was aged to about 16 when Dylan Michael Patton assumed the role late last week. There’s no way fans will accept Sami Brady as a grandmother. She has carried the show when all other stories have bombed. A scheming Sami shouldn’t have to deal with being a grandmother.  Hopefully Alison Sweeney will add a “Grandma Clause” onto her contract like Susan Lucci did.  The only reason to worry is that the writing on this show gets increasingly worse and worse and that a contrived plot like this is plausible. The last time Will was in town, he was written to be smarter than his parents and wouldn’t make the same mistakes…hopefully that still is the case and has no past with Mia.

Don Diamont (ex-Brad, Y&R) is heading over to The Bold and the Beautiful as a brand new character named Bill Spencer, Jr. Bill is supposed to be Caroline Spencer Forrester’s brother. Now for your history lesson: the Caroline character was first around when the show debuted in 1987 and was Ridge’s first wife. Caroline was basically the Taylor of the 80s, she was caught between both Ridge and Thorne and went against Brooke for Ridge. She was played by Joanna Johnson who is also said to be returning. Johnson’s Caroline was killed off in 1990, but the actress returned several months later to portray Caroline’s twin sister Karen. Taylor used to be Caroline’s doctor when she was introduced to the show and this is how she met Ridge. So if Don Diamont is on B&B…do you think if Ashley ever pops over, she’ll recognize Bill as Brad since both soaps are set in the same “universe”?! Oh well, this isn’t the first Y&R star to take on a different role on B&B, Heather Tom who plays Katie on B&B was the original Victoria on Y&R and Jennifer Gareis (Donna) used to be Grace.

— Daytime Emmy winner Cady McClain is returning to As The World Turns as Rosanna Cabot. The actress starts taping in two weeks and first appears on screen May 20th. McClain has played Rosanna on and off since 2002. McClain is also known as All My Children’s Dixie Cooney Martin which she had played on and off from 1988 until last year (when she was killed off due to a poisonous pancake…seriously). The actress has won an Emmy for each of her roles – for Dixie in 1990 and Rosanna in 2004.

— In other As The World Turns casting news, Nicholas Galbraith and Melinda Sullivan have been tapped to play fraternal twins Zac and Zoe. Zac will be thrown into a triangle with Luke and Noah while Zoe will mix things up with Casey. The pair make their debut on April 1st while In Turn season one winner Alex Charak’s Elwood is killed off this week.

— NASCAR racer Jeff Burton guest stars on General Hospital later this month and shares scenes with canuck Jason Thompson (Patrick).
