I got the chance to catch up with Tonya Lee Williams last week at Toronto’s LG Fashion Week where the actress was kind enough to do a quick interview. Check out the video where she tells us how happy she is being back on The Young and the Restless and which co-stars she enjoys working with. I also asked her if there were any current plans to bring back Victoria Rowell (ex-Dru).
As for her storyline…Olivia fans stay tuned! The actress teased that she’ll be a part of Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) new mysterious storyline.
Williams began her role on the soap in 1990 and stayed until 2005. She returned to the series this past fall on a recurring basis. Canadian fans can also remember her from her time as one of the early hosts of the Polka Dot Door. The actress has taken home two NAACP Image Awards for “Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series” in 2000 and 2002. The Canadian star also received the ACTRA Award of Excellence in 2005, which is one of the highst achievements for Actors in Canada. Williams has also founded the ReelWorld Film Festival, which recorgnizes the excellence and achivement of emerging diversity in Canadian film, video and new media.
This year’s festival runs from April 15th – 19th in Toronto. The opening night gala presentation will be Gospel Hill by Giancarlo Esposito while the Indian film Aloo Chaat by Robby Grewal will close the festival. You can find out more about the event here.
