Soap News: Another World Alum joins General Hospital, Victor Newman celebrates 30 Years on Y&R and more casting news

Another World alum Dahlia Salem will join the cast of General Hospital on Feb. 24th in the recurring role of Federal Prosecutor Claire Walsh.

— GH has also cast a new Quartermaine! Annie Ilonzeh has been cast as Maya Ward, Edward’s great-granddaughter. Maya will make her Port Charles debut on March 31st and will be a medical intern who is expected to mix things up with either Lucky or Ethan.

Lindze Letherman is also on her way back to GH on March 26th as Georgie’s ghost (sadly). Maxie will have a vision of her dearly-departed little sister and will act as her conscious. Honestly, they should just resurrect the character. Georgie and Emily should have never been killed off by the Text Message Killer. Letherman last appeared in December 2007.

— Even more GH casting news…Bradley Cole (ex-Jeffrey/Richard, Guiding Light) will appear as Kiefer’s father, Carlton Bauer. Yes, they actually have a character named Kiefer Bauer…you didn’t expect head writer Bob Guza to be original, right?

Scott Reeves (Steve, GH) has been upped to contract.

— And finally, General Hospital will be getting brand new opening credits! The new opening will coincide with the soap’s 12,000th episode on Tuesday, February 23rd. Hope they never do that last men shot again…more that half of those characters were killed off in mob-related violence.

— Meanwhile, Stuart Damon (ex-Alan, GH; ex-Ralph, ATWT) will appear on Days of our Lives next month as Gov. Jim Ford.

—  Judi Evans will also be returning to DAYS next month as Adrienne. She’ll always be Another World’s Paulina Cory to me.

Susan Walters (Diane) will return to The Young and the Restless on February 25th and 26th (Canadian episode dates).

Eric Braeden (the Great Victor Newman) recently celebrated his 30th anniversary on Y&R. Here are a few pictures from the party that was held in Los Angeles on Feb. 3rd. Check out CBS and SOAPnet for some more.
