Soap News: Peck to OLTL, Lowder out at B&B, Nate returns to Y&R and more!

Austin Peck (ex-Brad, ATWT; ex-Austin, DAYS) will join his former As the World Turns co-star (and real life girlfriend) Terri Conn (Aubrey; ex-Katie, ATWT) at One Life to Live. No details about the character have emerged, but he begins taping this Monday, January 31st.

The Bold and the Beautiful’s Kyle Lowder (Rick; ex-Brady, DAYS) is on his way out. The actor told Soap Opera Digest pretty much what any B&B fan already knows, that the show hasn’t been able to generate enough of a story for the character. Update: Looks like Rick won’t exactly be leaving Los Angeles, as Soaps in Depth reports that they’ll keep Lowder on the show at a recurring capacity – just like they’re doing with Winsor Harmon’s Thorne and Ashley Jones’s Bridget.

— Lil’ Nate’s all grown up! Walter Fauntleroy has been cast The Young and the Restless’ Nate Hasting (Olivia’s son) and he’ll be appearing make his first appearance on the February 4th Canadian episode and will air until the 10th. Hopefully this guest stint will turn into something more. The actor has previously guest starred on NCIS: Los Angeles and Prison Break. Nate was last seen in Genoa City in 2003, played by Bryant Jones. When Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams) returned in 2008, she mentioned that Nate was attending medical school in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins University. It’s rumored that Nate will either help his cousin Lily in time of (another!) crisis or that he’ll be Ronan’s doctor.

— Speaking of Olivia, Tonya Lee Williams’ Y&R character will show up on The Bold and the Beautiful next week for her cousin Justin’s wedding to Donna. I wonder if she’ll recognize her old flame Brad Carlton…I mean, Bill Spencer! (as well as the former Victoria Newman, Heather Tom).

Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren, Y&R) will appear on CTV’s The Marilyn Denis Show next Friday, February 4th.

Melissa Claire Egan’s (Annie) final episode on All My Children is set to air on Monday, March 21st.

Days of our LivesGalen Gering begins double duty as Rafe and his look-alike next week.

General Hospital’s Ron Hale (Mike) has told Soaps in Depth that he’s retiring and has already made his final appearance on the soap. Hale joined the series in 1995 as Sonny’s father. Such a shame that he couldn’t have been given a proper send off, instead, Mike heads to rehab for his gambling addiction off-screen. I guess with Sonny’s upcoming wedding to Brenda, they writers realized they had to come up with a legitimate excuse for not having Mike there.
