Soap News: Daytime Emmys to air on HLN, Danny & Cricket reunite on Y&R, Plus: Soap Memes!

Update: The Daytime Emmy Awards will air on HLN at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Saturday, June 23rd. HLN is promises surprise guests including tributes to both All My Children and One Life to Live. HLN is available in Canada as well: 80 on Rogers, 502 or 141 on Shaw, 502 Bell Satellite and 1508/508 on Bell Fibe. For a full list of soap nominations, click here.

— There was some drama with the Daytime Emmys yesterday as NATAS removed the younger actor and actress categories from the main banquet on June 23rd. The trophies would instead be handed out the week before, at the Creative Arts ceremony. Soaps in Depth learned that NATAS decided to add the categories back to the main ceremony after many actors (not just those in the younger categories) threatened to boycott the Awards.

— Congratulations to a few soap stars that are expecting kids. The Bold and the Beautiful’s Heather Tom is pregnant her first child in October with husband James, while The Young and the RestlessMichael Muhney (Adam) announced via Twitter yesterday that he and his wife, Jaime, are expecting their third child, also a boy, this November.

Blake Berris will return to Days of our Lives this summer as Nick Fallon.

Jeff Branson (Ronan Malloy) is also on his way back to The Young and the Restless. Nina’s stolen baby will return to Genoa City on June 25 (26 U.S. episode).

Yvonne Zima (Daisy) is leaving Y&R (finally!), while Soaps Uncensored hints that so could someone else.

Victoria Rowell (ex-Dru, Y&R) is set to appear on a three-episode arc on the new season of Single Ladies. According to Soaps in Depth, she’ll play Veronica, a stylish attorney. Rowell’s episodes are slated to air this August while the second season of the VH1 hit premieres on Monday, May 28 – sadly, without Stacey Dash.

— While Anthony Zacchara may be dead on General Hospital, expect Bruce Weitz to stick around as haunts Johnny.

— In other GH news, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Richard Steinmetz (ex-Martin, Passions) will play the son of a former character who’ll have a big story with Sonny (of course).

General Hospital: Jason turns to Elizabeth. Kristina reveals her new project to her family. Heather makes a call. Jason and John McBain continue to clash.  Todd, Tea and Carly clash with Starr and Michael. A storm hits Port Charles as Sam and Tea both go into labor.

The Young and the Restless: Sparks fly between Danny and Cricket! They have sex and later run into Paul and Phyllis. Sharon shocks Victoria with a secret about Billy. Noah and Eden find themselves in an awkward situation. Michael’s got a new job, which causes conflict with Lauren. Ricky continues to investigate Phyllis’ past. Heather (now Jennifer Landon) receives a job offer that brings her back to Genoa City.
