Soap News: Peter Reckell OUT on DAYS, Y&R’s Daniel Goddard coming to Toronto

Days of our LivesPeter Reckell (Bo) addressed his upcoming exit on Twitter yesterday, telling fans “Days of our Lives has been my home, my life, for almost 30 years. Bo is a character that developed from my soul, and has touched many lives, but none more than my own. I took my place in the hierarchy of the show, in the storyline, moving others aside, in the eighties. Now other have moved into the place I once held, I have been very fortunate to have had such a long, meaningful run. But now, with a torn heart, I have to say goodbye to the people, family, the character, that I love. You have to know [that] this has not been easy. I do not want to give up Bo, and with luck, in the future, will be able to return to the character that I fought so hard to preserve. Thank you for being the most supportive, forgiving, loyal viewers there are. You have given me strength in difficult times. You are the reason DOOL is still standing will continue for years to come. Thank you for all you have given me and the character I love.

Reckell should remain on-air through October, no word yet on how the exit will be written.

— The 39th Annual Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held this past Sunday in Los Angeles with General Hospital winning the most awards (Wardrobe, Casting, Song and Technical Direction), while The Bold and the Beautiful won for Art Direction and tied with The Young and the Restless for Hairstyling. Y&R also tied with All My Children for Sound Mixing while AMC also took the award for Editing. Days of Our Lives won for Makeup and Stunt Coordination, while One Life to Live won for Lighting. It should be noted that the promo GH won for was Brenda’s Wedding, which reinforces the fact that all the Brenda-related promos were far better than former head writer Bob Guza’s actual storylines for Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo.

The standard portion of the Daytime Emmy Awards will air live on Saturday at 8 p.m. on HLN.
