Jennie Garth & Tori Spelling’s TV comeback, SNL’s newest cast member and get ready for NBC’s new late night era

— Donna Martin and Kelly Taylor are reuniting! ABC Family has ordered Mystery Girls, a new comedy series which will star former Beverly Hills 90210 stars Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth (they’ll also serve as executive producers). The show will see the stars as former detective TV show starlets brought back together by a real-life mystery. Garth will play Charlie Contour, a suburban housewife/mom while Spelling’s Holly Hamilton still longs for her glory days in the ‘90s. ABC Spark has picked up the series for its Canadian run. Also at ABC Family/Spark: Young & Hungry, also a comedy, featuring Emily Osment (Hannah Montana) and Jonathan Sadowski ($#*! My Dad Says).

Downton Abbey returned to record U.S. ratings on Sunday night.

— Former Game of Thrones star Richard Madden has kept busy. The actor will next star on Discovery’s Klondike, the network’s first scripted miniseries. The 6-episode television event will premiere on January 20th. Abbie Cornish, Tim Roth and Sam Shephard will co-star.

Sasheer Zamata will become the first black female Saturday Night Live cast member in five years since Maya Rudolph departed the series. The comedienne comes from good stock, she’s previously performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade. SNL returns on January 18th with host/musical guest Drake. Jonah Hill will host on January 25th, while Bastille serve as musical guest.

— NBC has ordered six episodes of Mr. Robinson, Craig Robinson’s (The Office) new series.
