Daytime Confidential is reporting that Jane Elliot has informed her bosses at General Hospital that she won’t be re-signing her contract when it expires in the spring. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans as Elliot discussed her desire to retire in an interview with TV Insider last year. Elliot has played the fan-favourite Tracy Quartermaine (created by prolific daytime scribe Douglas Marland) on GH on and off since 1978 and even crossed over as the character on The City from 1996 to 1997.

Elliot has also held stints on other soaps, including Guiding Light from 1981-82 (as Carrie Todd), All My Children from 1984-86 (as Cynthia Chandler) and Days of our Lives from 1987-89 (as Angelica Deveraux). Wally Kurth who went on to play Elliot’s lover, Justin, on DAYS to son, Ned, on GH addressed the actress’ exit on Twitter this past week, insisting that he’s saddened by her impending exit as are the fans of the show but that “it’s her choice,” and that “she’s ready to retire.”

Kirsten Storms has taken another break from General Hospital due to personal reasons, Daytime Confidential has confirmed.

Billy Miller (Jason, GH) has booked a recurring arc on Ray Donovan’s fifth season.
