abc fall schedule 2017

ABC set its lineup for the 2017-18 television season last week. Among the new schedule, Once Upon A Time will get a major overhaul following the exits of key cast members for season seven, while Roseanne will return for an 8-episode revival.

— ABC beat out Netflix for the rights to the Roseanne revival. Roseanne Barr, John Goodman (as a very much still alive Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (DJ) and Lucy Goranson (Becky) will all be back. Sarah Chalke (the second Becky) will also be back, but as someone else.

— There will be an “live/animated” hybrid of The Little Mermaid special this fall.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. received a full season pickup (22 episodes) and will debut once Marvel’s Inhuman wraps up its 8-episode run.

Quantico will return in midseason.

— There will be a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff planned for midseason, which will focus on a Seattle fire dept.

— ABC won rights to an American Idol revival. No word yet if Ryan Seacrest will return as host. It’ll air at midseason.

— Yara Shahidi‘s black-ish spinoff, which will see Zoey head off to college, has been picked up by Freeform. No word yet if college-ish will be picked up by ABC Spark in Canada.

My (New) Picks: Marvel’s Inhumans, The Gospel of Kevin, Roseanne, Splitting Up Together and Alex, Inc.
