Casual has debuted its third season today (May 23) on Hulu in the U.S. and CraveTV in Canada.
Casual continues to follow “the offbeat and cringe-worthy adventures” of bachelor Alex (Tommy Dewey; The Mindy Project), his divorced sister Valerie (Michaela Watkins; Trophy Wife), and her teenage daughter Laura (Tara Lynne Barr). The series is created by Zander Lehmann, who serves as executive producer along with Jason Reitman, Helen Estabrook and Liz Tigelaar. The series was nominated for a 2016 Golden Globe Award for “Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy.”
The third season will pick up where season two ended as Alex and Valerie deal with their father’s death. The new season will follow Valerie’s decision to move Laura and herself out of Alex’s, forcing all three of them to explore new jobs, partners and unfulfilled passions.
The series also stars Nyasha Hatendi (Leon) and Frances Conroy (Dawn) while Julie Marie Berman (Leia) and Katie Aselton (Jennifer) will continue to recur this season. Guest stars this season include Chase Crawford (Gossip Girl), Judy Greer (Archer) and Jamie Chung (Gotham).
Nine out of this season’s thirteen episodes will be directed by female directors, including Gillian Robespierre (Obvious Child), Amy York Rubin (Foursome), Lake Bell (How to Make It In America) and Carrie Brownstein (Transparent).
The first three episodes of Casual’s third season are now streaming on CraveTV in Canada and on Hulu in the U.S. New episodes will roll out on a weekly basis each Tuesday beginning next week.
