Y&R Preview: Melissa Claire Egan Confirms Exit — Plus, Chelsea Receives a Mysterious Message

Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) has confirmed her exit from The Young and the Restless.

“After much thought and six wonderful years, I have decided to leave The Young and the Restless. I love this show (and this genre) so much, and am so grateful to this amazing crew and cast, especially my beyond wonderful Josh Morrow (Nick). This cast, crew, and everyone behind the scenes at Sony and CBS are truly the best at what they do and are my family. To you incredible fans, thank you for everything. This isn’t goodbye. Truly. Just goodbye for now,” Egan posted on her Twitter account.

Egan first appeared as con artist Chelsea on the soap in November 2011, when she was hired by Victor (Eric Braeden) to cause trouble for Billy (then Billy Miller). Per Daytime Confidential, the actress is keen to try her luck in primetime and film opportunities. There are no plans to recast the door, leaving the door open for Egan to return down the line if she so chooses. Before joining Y&R, Egan starred as Annie on All My Children from 2006 to 2011.
