TV Insider has revealed that Matthew Ashford will be returning to Days of our Lives as Jack Deveraux! Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’ll be a longterm deal. As of right now, the actor has only signed on for a five-episode arc.

Ashford last appeared as Jack in 2012 when he sacrificed his life for daughter Abigail (Kate Mansi) in an elevator crash. Hopefully there’s more to this return — it would be nice to see the Deveraux family back together, Jack, Jen (Melissa Reeves), Abigail and JJ (Casey Moss). Could an alive Jack help facilitate the departure of a member of his family or could his spirit come to the aid of one of them?

greg vaughan leaving days

Greg Vaughan revealed to Serial Scoop that he’ll be leaving the role of Eric Brady on DAYS. The actor joined the soap in 2012 in the role famously originated by Jensen Ackles from 1997-2000. The actor signed a contract extension in August to wrap up the character’s story. No word yet when he will last air.

Vaughan — and Eric’s — exit from DAYS is unfortunate as many fans felt that he wasn’t given enough material, especially with Eric’s pairing with Nicole (Arianne Zucker). The highlight from Vaughan’s 3-year stint would have to be when he was drugged and seduced by Eileen Davidson’s Kristen DiMera.

Let’s hope General Hospital jumps at the chance to bring back Vaughan as Lucky Spencer (the role he played from 2003-2009). The actor had amazing chemistry with co-stars Rebecca Herbst (Liz) and Kelly Monaco (Sam)… It would also be fun to see how his Lucky could mix things up with Rebecca Budig‘s Hayden. Not to mentions there’s plenty of story for Lucky who has sorely been needed on the canvas since Jonathan Jackson left the role in 2011 (save for returning for Anthony Geary’s [Luke] exit story this past summer). GH would also need help in the leading male department as Jason Thompson (Patrick) announced his departure from the ABC soap.
