It was announced on Oct. 23 that Star Trek: Discovery has been renewed for a second season.

The series, which is shot in Toronto, has averaged 1.2 million viewers over the course of its first five episodes on Space in Canada, making it the most-watched series in Canadian specialty television history to date.

Star Trek: Discovery streams on CBS All Access in the U.S., and on Netflix elsewhere around the world. The series stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Jason Isaacs, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Mary Chieffo and James Frain.

Episodes eight and nine of the first season will continue to air on Sunday, Nov. 5 and 12, respectively before going on hiatus. The remaining six episodes will debut in January 2018.

Star Trek: Discovery airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Space in Canada. Canadians can catch up on demand, the Space app and on space.ca.
