Beyond the Gates, the first new daytime soap opera in over 25 years is set to debut on Monday, February 24 on CBS at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT. In Canada, Beyond the Gates will simulcast on CHCH at 2 p.m. ET.
Created by Michele Val Jean (General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful), Beyond the Gates is a one-hour set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C., and in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States. Here you’ll find a posh gated community with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions to call home. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those who live outside these gates are watching closely. These are the places where our characters live, love, work and play. Those who have “made it” and those who haven’t are all trying to navigate life … and some with more grace than others.
Beyond the Gates stars Tamara Tunie (As the World Turns), Karla Mosley (The Bold and the Beautiful, Guiding Light), Daphnee Duplaix (Passions, One Life to Live), and Clifton Davis (That’s My Mama, Amen) as members of the prominent Dupree family.
The series is filmed in Atlanta, Georgia with Sheila Ducksworth, Robert Guza Jr., Julie Carruthers, Leon W Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner and Anna Saalfeld executive producing alongside Val Jean. Beyond the Gates is produced and developed by the CBS Studio/NAACP Venture in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Proctor & Gamble – which previously produced the iconic Guiding Light, As the World Turns and Another World!
Beyond the Gates will also star daytime newcomers Alex Alegria, Lauren Buglioli, Brandon Claybon, Timon Kyle Durrett, Sean Freeman, Ben Gavin, Marquita Goings, Jibre Hordges, Jen Jacob, Maurice Johnson, Trisha Mann-Grant, RhonniRose Mantilla, Ambyr Michelle, Colby Muhammad, and Arielle Prepetit, as well as familiar faces Mike Manning (Days of our Lives), Cady McClain (All My Children, As the World Turns), and Jon Lindstrom (General Hospital, Port Charles).
CHCH is an independent Canadian television network out of Hamilton, Ontario. It’s news arm serves the Halton and Niagara regions and is available on basic cable in the Toronto area and on digital and satellite across Canada. Canadians who do not have CHCH, will still be able to watch Beyond the Gates live and DVR the series on CBS across the country where the American network is available locally.
Paramount Global Content Distribution, which distributes Beyond the Gates, has confirmed exclusively to The TV Watercooler that CHCH only holds broadcast television rights to the series in Canada. There is no confirmation yet on if any streaming service has picked up Beyond the Gates to stream in Canada. As of press time, Beyond the Gates will not stream on Paramount+ (where it will stream in the U.S.) in Canada.
CHCH is no stranger to daytime soaps, the Canadian network, which began broadcasting in 1954, has previously aired The Young and the Restless, Sunset Beach, and As the World Turns.
Beyond the Gates will air weekdays at 2 p.m. ET on CBS and CHCH in Canada.
