Continuum star Rachel Nichols revealed on tonight’s broadcast of Entertainment Tonight Canada that while the popular science fiction series would be returning for a fourth season, it would also be its last.

The final season of Showcase’s Continuum will only consist of six episodes and will air in 2015. Shaw Media had previously produced 10 episodes for the show’s first season while the second and third seasons each consisted of 13 episodes.

“All great stories deserve an end. I am excited and grateful to finish Continuum with the riveting conclusion it deserves,” said Nichols on ET Canada. “ This series final is dedicated to the devoted fans who have loyally supported us since day one.”

Christine Shipton, Shaw Media’s senior vice president of content added that the show’s award-winning success on Showcase “is a statement to the quality of our Canadian original productions,” and that “with executive producer Simon Barry [who is also the creator] at its helm, the fourth and final season of Continuum is bound to deliver a heroic conclusion to the futuristic series.”

Continuum is filmed on location in Vancouver, B.C., and also stars Victor Webster, Erik Knudsen and Stephen Lobo. The series airs in the United States on Syfy.

This marks the second original production that Shaw Media will be ending in 2015. It was previously announced that Lost Girl would conclude after its current season.
