Canadian fans left out in the cold after Hulu swooped up and saved The Mindy Project following its cancellation by Fox can rest easy. Rogers Media’s City will continue broadcasting Mindy Kaling’s comedy series and will debut its fourth season this fall and has even given it a timeslot — Thursdays at 9:30 p.m.

American streaming service Hulu picked up the NBCUniversal-produced series earlier this month with a 26 episode order after Fox decided not to renew it due to low ratings.

City coming to an agreement to air the fourth season of The Mindy Project on conventional television is a welcome decision (they will presumably continue to hold digital streaming rights as do they with most of their shows). Last year the Canadian broadcaster disappointed many fans when they failed to secure digital and broadcast rights to the sixth season of Community from Sony Pictures Television (after it had aired the previous five) which was rescued by Yahoo! when it was cancelled by NBC.

No word yet on a start date from either Hulu or City, but let’s hope it airs on the same day and it’s not a repeat of what happened when Cougar Town moved from ABC to TBS and City aired the comedy series a month or so behind.
