MTV is expanding its annual movie award show to include television!

The 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards will be held on Sunday, May 7 and will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

“We’re living in a golden age of content, and great storytelling and characters resonate regardless of whether you’re watching it in a theatre of on TV,” said Chris McCarthy, President of MTV. “The new ‘MTV Movie & TV Awards’ will celebrate even more of the brightest, bravest, funniest and most shared films and TV shows resonating across youth culture.”

Host, nominations, performers and presenters will be announced at a later date. In Canada, the awards are usually aired in simulcast on MTV Canada.
